III. Catalog Course Description

In this course students will investigate sculptural form, matter and content by making pieces in various materials. This course sets a foundation for student understanding of artistic expression in three dimensional media.

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Identify and understand the characteristics of various materials used in creating 3D sculptural works of art
  • Understand various methods, tools and equipment used with the media in this course
  • Understand the safety procedures of using tools and equipment needed to produce sculptural works
  • Learn the basics of installing and/or fastening artwork to maintain the desired form, and protect the safety of viewers
  • Understand the basic of form, balance, content, direction of movement, space and other principles of art in order to effectively present the artist’s desired imagery
