Program Overview:
The Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, and Heating Program is designed to provide students with skills needed to work on refrigeration and heating systems. This is a limited enrollment program.
Program Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of the HVAC program, a student will be able to:
- Demonstrate a safe working knowledge in the use and diagnosis of the electrical systems used in residential, commercial, and industrial gas, oil, electrical, heat pump, air conditioning and chiller, boiler equipment using proper tools of the trade.
- Identify components and possess the basic skills necessary to properly size, design systems and install, set up, maintain, diagnose and troubleshooting of comfort systems.
- Use approved methods, tools, and equipment for the safe handling, use and disposal of EPA regulated refrigerants per industry standards.
- Demonstrate the basic skills to safely work with, repair, troubleshoot and service commercial, and industrial refrigeration systems and the associated equipment and identify the hazards associated with ammonia systems.
- Take industry based tests with reference to the National Electrical Code, Environmental Protection Agency 608 and the State of Idaho Journeyman exams.
- Apply knowledge and skills to further their career opportunities in the trade and find a fit for their own goals and to succeed in their chosen career path.
Program Requirements for Admission:
Program Application Required
Take CSI Placement Exam.
Take CSI Placement Exam scores to program adviser for interpretation, personal interview and program acceptance.
Pay first semester’s tuition and fees to secure a slot.
