III. Catalog Course Description

Course is a continuation of VETT 110L, which familiarizes students with various clinical techniques, emergency medicine, and veterinary nursing applications.

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Understand principles of endoscopy and acupuncture.   
  • Demonstrate ability to maintain and care for veterinary diagnostic and therapeutic equipment.
  • Understand principles of semen collection, vaginal exams and sheath cleaning.
  • Understand principles and proper application of bandages, splints and casts.
  • Understand principles of wound management.
  • Develop fundamental necropsy assisting skills.
  • Explain / demonstrate competency in various emergency medical skills.
  • Understand techniques used in transtracheal aspiration, centesis and care of indwelling PEG or chest tubes.
  • Understand principles of nutrition as it relates to healthy and diseased conditions.
