III. Catalog Course Description

This course provides students with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to extricate victims from common passenger vehicles, simple small machines, commercial and heavy vehicles, and heavy machinery.

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Identify incidents that may be encountered and the procedures and systems utilized during an auto extrication.
  • Recognize potential safety hazards to victims and rescuers from airbags, pyrotechnics and electricity.
  • Identify and classify the different types of vehicles on the road.
  • Describe the use of various auto extrication tools on actual vehicles.
