DRAT 148 Pictorial Views with BIM Software

A study of pictorial projection techniques generated from BIM software. Initial study will incorporate BIM drawing setup and creation of major building components used in the architectural facilities discipline. BIM projections will cover conceptual drawing techniques focusing on Isometric and Perspective views.  Plotting of these views (renders) with associated variables such as, line work, color, etc.., will be covered.

III. Catalog Course Description

A study of pictorial projection techniques generated from BIM software. Initial study will incorporate BIM drawing setup and creation of major building components used in the architectural facilities discipline. BIM projections will cover conceptual drawing techniques focusing on Isometric and Perspective views.  Plotting of these views (renders) with associated variables such as, line work, color, etc.., will be covered. 

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Recognize differences between various Axonometric drawing techniques
  • Recognize the differences between 1, 2, and 3 point perspective drawings
  • Create/place major building entities in Revit, to include ground, walls, floors, and roofs
  • Create/place minor building entities in Revit, to include doors, windows, cabinets, etc..
  • Create Isometric drawings from BIM models
  • Create Perspective drawings from BIM models
  • Print created views to paper media
