III. Catalog Course Description
This course provides students with the knowledge of computer hardware and software and advanced concepts such as security, networking, and the responsibilities of an IT professional. Students who complete this course will be able to explain the internal components of a computer, describe how to assemble a computer system and install an operating system. Students working through hands-on activities will gain skills in computer assembly, configuration, and maintenance.
IV. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- To master course content as defined by course objectives and presented in lectures and demonstrations to the student.
- Students will complete all online labs as many times as necessary until reaching a 100% score. Section quizzes and questions will be assigned to reinforce the subject matter. Comprehensive tests will be given to evaluate student understanding.
- Students will comprehend the role and purpose of the operating system and hardware so they may apply this knowledge to the next level of classes in their educational path.
- Successful completion of assignments and lab activities.
- The instructor will actively involve the students in a continual evaluation of the class.
- Classroom evaluations given to the students will be utilized to determine the effectiveness of the delivery method.

V. Topical Outline (Course Content)
One of the goals of the Information Technology Department is to continuously evaluate course content and modify the delivery and subject matter as necessary to provide the students with the best opportunity at success. Part of this is brought about by labor market demands and other changes come about by using outcome assessments. Throughout the course you will be completing assignments, quizzes, and tests and from the scores you receive, you will be able to determine how well you are absorbing the information. As an instructor, I will use your test scores and the assessment model to assess the validity of the material and presentation methodology. All outcomes tie directly into the college’s mission statement and the Information Technology instructional goals.
