Students will learn about pond site symptoms, recognition of internal and external bacterial diseases, parasites and virus disease problems. Basic diagnostic techniques, methods of treatment, and chemotherapy will be studied. Treatment calculation and water flow rates will be covered.

This course is an introduction to fish diseases and parasites. Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Identify and define disease-causing organisms of fish and classify them as viral, bacterial, fungal, protozoan, parasitic or environmental.
- Identify common signs of fish suffering from a disease.
- Select different treatment methods for appropriate diseases and chemicals.
- Write and solve treatment calculations and calculate water flow rates.
- Explain ways to prevent disease or how to manage disease once it is established.
