Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this major, students will be able to:

  1. Apply core concepts and established theories in the field sufficient to analyze international affairs and global issues in both written and oral formats;
  2. Critically assess social science perspectives and analytical methods sufficient to research issues in international affairs, and to interpret the research conducted by others in international affairs;
  3. Express in both written and oral formats complex positions regarding public policies, normative questions, and culturally-based values central to international affairs (for example, policies such as those related to international conflict and cooperation, political and economic development, transnational issues, or the functioning of states and markets; and cultural and normative questions such as those related to human rights, political order, and social justice); and
  4. Write evidenced-based arguments positioned amidst broader debates in international affairs scholarship and formatted in Chicago/Turabian style.
