Pre-Veterinary Specialization

Completion of this specialization, along with introductory Biology and Chemistry sequences, will fulfill the core pre-veterinary science requirements.  Please note, however, that each veterinary school has its own list of required courses and students should check the requirements for each school of interest.  For example, several schools require Animal Physiology.  In addition, students should take a full year of writing-focused courses (FYS + one ENG course), social sciences and a year of math. Note that BIO 330 is highly recommended as a prerequisite for Biochemistry.

Required Biology Courses (11 Credits)

BIO-201 and lab (either BIO-201L or BIO-210L),  and BIO-202 with lab BIO-202L  as well as the general chemistry sequence (CHE-141 and CHE-142) are prerequisites for BIO-316 .

Complete either PHY-231 and PHY-232 (with required labs) or PHY-271 and PHY-272 (with required labs).

PHY-231 requires MAT-150 while PHY-271 requires MAT-175.

Mathematics Requirements (4 Credits)

MAT-150 may be required for MAT-175 depending on Math Placement. MAT-150 is a required for PHY-231 while MAT-175 is required for PHY-271.
