Student Financial Aid
The College is a low-cost institution; however, many students must have some form of financial assistance to gain the most from their college experience. The purpose of financial aid is to provide assistance, based on financial need, to students who normally could not attend college without aid. Financial aid includes grants, scholarships, work-study, or a combination of these. Financial aid is supplementary to the efforts of the student and family. Student financial need is determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You can access FAFSA online at FAFSA® Application | Federal Student Aid . The College's federal code is 008082.
Federal Pell Grants
Pell Grants are awarded only to undergraduate students (those who have not earned a bachelors or graduate degree) who demonstrate financial need by the U.S. Department of Education.
Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
SEOG is a federal program that awards to undergraduate students. Federal Pell Grant recipients receive priority for SEOG awards. The Financial Aid Office determines awards according to exceptional financial need of the student.
North Carolina Community College Grant
The State of North Carolina provides funding to N.C. residents enrolled in community colleges who demonstrate limited or no eligibility for Federal Pell Grants.
North Carolina Education Lottery Scholarship
The State of North Carolina provides additional assistance to needy N.C. residents enrolled at least half-time.
Federal Work-Study Program (FWS)
Work-Study is a federal program that allows students who demonstrate financial need according to the FAFSA the opportunity to work a part-time job on campus. Work-Study offers students a supervised schedule, usually 20-25 hours per week. Students may be employed in off-campus community services positions.
