Student Recognitions

Each year, the North Carolina Community College System host “The Great Within the 58” celebration, honoring an Academic Excellence Recipient from each of the 58 community colleges in North Carolina. The College’s recipient is typically presented his/her award during the annual commencement exercise.

The College also has an opportunity to nominate a student for the Dallas Herring Achievement Award and Governor Robert Scott Student Leadership Award. The Dallas Herring Achievement Award focuses on Dr. Dallas Herring’s philosophy of “taking people where they are and carrying them as far as they can go.” For the Robert Scott Leadership Award nominees must be active in campus activities and possess traits to help them become a leader in their community.
