LIS 419 Indexing & Thesaurus Construction
Design, evaluation, and improvement of systems providing subject access to information resources. Indexing, classification and taxonomy, indexing language development, abstracting, algorithmic approaches. Subject organization and retrieval in a range of information systems and settings, including Web sites, subject gateways, and digital libraries. Practical exercises, individual or group projects, in-class presentations. Prerequisite: LIS 407, LIS 415.
