Educational Support

Learning and Tutoring Commons

We are here to help you succeed! Come see us if you are wanting a bright, open and interactive study area.  We can provide you with an extra hand learning course concepts, working through assignments or developing additional learning strategies and technology skills.  We have free coffee and tea.

Why use us? We can help you save time and frustration! Research shows that most successful students at CSI use our services and engage with their peers in learning outside of class.

How does it work? All services are free.  No appointments are needed, just drop in - whether it be for five minutes or five hours.  Together we can utilize methods that best facilitate your individual learning, such as

  • Brainstorming on whiteboards
  • Talking aloud
  • Drawing concept maps
  • Walking through your presentation on the big screen

Questions? For more information, visit us in Room 202 on the second floor of the Meyerhoeffer Building (above the library) at the main campus, Room B-03 at the Mini-Cassia Center, check us out at www.csi.edu/ip/adc/lap, or call us at 208.732.6685.

Peer Tutoring

The intent of Peer Tutoring is not to do coursework on behalf of students, but to assist or guide them to the point at which they become an independent learner, and thus no longer need a tutor. The primary goal is to assist with troublesome content areas and identify skills necessary to complete complex assignments.

Tutors are available on a drop-in basis to provide tutoring in primary content areas such as Math, Writing, and General Education Core Sciences.
