IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Understand how different weights, loads, sling angles, and equipment affect rigging applications.
  • Demonstrate basic electric utility safety practices including grounding.
  • Operate a bucket truck and perform aerial rescue.
  • Discuss the proper use of relays and how mapping is important to utility work.
  • Operate an ATV/UHV safely.
  • Describe the operation of distribution transformers and IVVC controls.
  • Interpret electrical control prints and operate the Fieldsmart system.
  • Install equipment following avian protection guidelines.
  • Test distribution protection relays, install an electronic recloser, and operate selective load shedding, loop-feed systems.
