  • Performance of use of machinery and hand tools to an outcome whether good or not so good will be the outcome. If a student does not complete a task with at least an 80% they will remake the task
  • Objective is to learn quality of counter top construction, sanding, filing and assembly of.
  • In this block we assess each given project on a one on one basis with each task completed.
  • Performance in this block is important for quality of woodworking as well as plastics.
  • We all see the Counter tops, nothing to hide, so the student has to use real skill in this area to master his/her filing, routing, cleaning , installation to become the best,.
  • Evaluation sheets of the class will be given at the end of the class on the class, instructor, and the student. Then we can assess the class and see if and what kind of changes need to be made.
  • One on one evaluations happen on each task as well to demonstrate what he or she has done correct or not and how we can master it better,(quality, speed, cleanliness etc.)

V. Topical Outline (Course Content)

Intense study of the making of plastic laminate counter tops, post form plastic laminate tops. Introduction to solid surface counter tops, with practice on small pieces of the product. Introduction to marble, tile and granite etc. tops. The building of solid butcher block tops. Students will demonstrate competencies in counter-top construction and in the application of both the tops as well as the back splashes, large and small. European instruction of cabinetry will be shown in this block as well since they are applied the same types of methods of construction. Working with all types of edge treatments will be demonstrated by instructor and student for mastery.
