This course provides practical application of metal finishing and minor body repair. This includes straightening and prepping sheet metals, the proper use of plastic body fillers, abrasives, sanding techniques and air tools. Students will remove and install necessary trim and hardware to facilitate repair procedures.

III. Catalog Course Description

This course provides practical application of metal finishing and minor body repair. This includes straightening and prepping sheet metals, the proper use of plastic body fillers, abrasives, sanding techniques and air tools. Students will remove and install necessary trim and hardware to facilitate repair procedures.

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Demonstrate and perform the different steps in the nonstructural panel repair process.
  • Develop a sequence to rough out different types of nonstructural damage.
  • Demonstrate the correct metal finishing process.
  • Use filler to restore panel contour.
  • Identify and perform the different steps and special procedures needed to straighten aluminum panels.
  • Demonstrate the different tools and techniques used in straightening one and two sided nonstructural panels.
