Basic principles and theory. Laboratory and performance experience in all phases of theatrical makeup. Required for sophomore theater majors.

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Apply basic stage makeup for a variety of performance spaces
  • Understand and apply the concepts of makeup design based on theme, character, and design concepts
  • Read and analyze scripts to create effective makeup design
  • Write a makeup design concept prospectus
  • Create a portfolio of work drawn from makeup design prospectus
