III. Catalog Course Description

This course is a continuation of MUSI 211. It continues the development of both solfege ability and aural perception of intervals, rhythms, chords, and chord progressions.

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • The ability to read rhythms in compound meter.
  • The ability to read notes in tenor clef
  • The ability to read rhythms containing triplets and duplets at sight.
  • The ability to sing melodies involving chromatic inflections on any scale degree
  • Increased proficiency in melodic dictation, including dictations involving multiple voices.
  • Increased proficiency in harmonic and rhythmic dictation.
  • Increased proficiency in contextual listening.
