HEAT 125 Heavy Equipment Preventive Maintenance

Students will learn all preventive maintenance tasks on heavy equipment covering air brakes, electrical, air and hydraulic brake systems, power steering, suspension, controls, frame and cab, A/C systems, clutch and drive transmissions and hydraulics. The students will make the repairs and adjustments as outlined in the proper service manual.

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Upon completion of this course, students will/must: 1. explain the fundamentals of regular hydraulic system maintenance service.
  • 2. understand all preventive maintenance tasks on heavy/ag equipment completing the NATEF task list standards and preventative check sheets.
  • 3. practice and conduct correct procedures and practices of vehicle inspection in a technical learning environment.
  • 4. demonstrate proper safety standards in handling the storage and disposal of chemicals and materials in accordance to federal safety and environmental standards.
  • 5. follow all safety procedures and demonstrate shop cleanliness while working on preventative maintenance.
