III. Catalog Course Description

This course is designed to be an externship in the field environment of the Fire Science Program. The student will demonstrate their ability to be an active member of the fire team, and their ability to enter the workforce as an entry-level firefighter. 

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Analyze and apply measures to resolve problems in areas of fire suppression, fire prevention, and EMS.
  • Recognize the importance of ethics, professionalism, and diversity within the fire service.
  • Communicate effectively in both oral presentations and written fire service reports.
  • Demonstrate the technical, cognitive, and psychomotor skills necessary to achieve and maintain employment in the fire service.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the fire service.
