III. Catalog Course Description

This course will provide instruction in page layout software and students will be introduced to basic page layout design principles. Students will create, save, retrieve, and print publications.

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • To use industrypublishing standards and terminology.
  • To introduce the more advanced capabilities of layout software to create, edit, save, and print publications.

V. Topical Outline (Course Content)

Outcome: Students will be able to create layouts used in the graphic design industry in a timely manner using industry standards. Assessment: Students will complete instructor assigned projects and/or quizzes. Outcome: Students will recognize effective design from ineffective design. Assessment: Students will participate in class critiques as well as complete a bi-weekly design journal. They will use the elements of design, the principles of design, and the effects of design to demonstrate their ability to apply design concepts
