III. Catalog Course Description
This course will cover specialized woodworking applications that can be applied to cabinetmaking as well as furniture design and building. Students will craft several projects to practice woodworking skills.
IV. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Operate all woodworking lab machinery using the machinery check-off list
- Learn how to make various complex furniture joints and cabinet joints
- Learn how to sharpen various blades
- Make a Cabriole leg
- Demonstrate how to carve a ball and claw and various other carving techniques as per project
- Make a Tambour door and appliance garage
- Make and layout a jig to create a louvered door and or shutter or other complex layout for a cabinetmaking specialty project
- Be better informed of other special building techniques that they can try out on their special projects sheet
- Make a turning in several forms
- Learn how to think outside of the box with different and more complex designs of cabinetry and furniture pieces
- Make drawings and cut lists of given designs and projects
