III. Catalog Course Description

This course is an application of bookkeeping and data processing integrated into an automated accounting software package. Through the use of QuickBooks Pro Accounting Software (a commercial accounting software package) the following area will be covered: general ledger, account receivable, account payable, payroll, fixed assets and inventory.

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Create accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP using QuickBooks accounting software
  • Demonstrate the skills necessary to perform general ledger computer accounting for service, merchandising, and manufacturing business
  • Demonstrate how to correctly use accounts receivable, accounts payable, invoicing, payroll, inventory and job cost systems within QuickBooks accounting software.
  • Demonstrate how to correctly perform the accounting cycle
  • Articulate in writing what the various reports created in QuickBooks mean and evaluate how reports can be used.
