CHE-465 Physical Chemistry II

This is the second semester of the two-semester course sequence. This course will cover chemical thermodynamics, introduction to statistical mechanics and chemical kinetics. Classical thermodynamics will be developed using statistical analysis of the energy states of molecules developed from the first semester. The kinetic behavior of chemical systems will be explored from both a mechanistic as well as a statistical perspective. The laboratory/recitation credit is required and will have both theoretical/computational and experimental components. Additional time in the laboratory section will be directed toward the further development and analysis of mathematical techniques to support the topics being investigated. Prerequisite: PHY-271 and PHY- 272. Corequisites: CHE-465L
