Prereq.: SPED 422 or consent of the department. Teaches technology for augmentative/alternative communication (AAC). Discusses candidacy, assessment, and goals of intervention within the framework of alternative access options and functional outcomes. Considers different AAC systems and devices and computer applications for authoring an integrated system for enhanced participation, functional communication, language development, and issues related to education.
