IT 512 Privacy and Data Security Fundamentals
In this course students learn the fundamental of data privacy in today’s increasingly digital world. Topics include data inventory, classification, data collection and storage processes and techniques. The instructor provides a high-level overview of ever-changing laws and regulations related to data, including Federal and state regulations as well as regulations and policies associated comparing with specific industries such as education and healthcare, US laws will be compared and contrasted to international laws such as the European Union’s GDPR. Government access to private-sector collected data and workplace privacy will also be evaluated. Students must achieve a minimum grade of B-. (3)
