FSC 1800 FORENSIC SCIENCE AND THE LAW

This course will discuss how the disciplines of forensic science and the United States Criminal Justice system interact during criminal and civil investigations. The different types of law will be presented, with an emphasis on the sources for the US criminal Law. Moreover, the different criteria for evidence admission in court (federal rules of evidence, Frye Standard, Daubert standard) will be discussed. The course will also examine the role and titles that an expert should possess, different types of biases and their influence in a court of law, and general court etiquette.
