Testing and Course Placement

Placement testing is no longer required for most incoming Kean University students. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Multiple Measures has been introduced as the method for placing newly admitted undergraduate students in their appropriate courses. Therefore, college readiness is now determined by SAT/ACT test scores (if available), cumulative High School GPA, and other factors.
The School of General Studies contacts first-year students through e-mail, inviting them to schedule an Academic Advising Appointment. With the assistance of a Faculty Advisor, students discuss recommended classes based on major and course placement. Registration for classes will not occur until each student has met with a Faculty Advisor.
