III. Catalog Course Description
Introduction to digital electronics, integrated circuits, numbering systems, Boolean algebra, gates, flip-flops, multiplexers, sequential circuits, combinational circuits, programmable logic devices, and computer architecture.
Laboratory activities to include the design, construction, analysis, and measurement of basic digital systems.
IV. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Convert between the different number systems used in digital circuit designs
- Describe the difference between the basic logic functions
- Construct combinational and sequential logic circuits that implement various design requirements
- Utilize schematic entry and programming techniques to implement digital systems on a development board
- Recognize basic implementations of Analog-to-Digital and Digital-to-Analog conversions
- Explain the difference between a regulated and unregulated power supply
- Demonstrate understanding of why sensor output signals need to be conditioned for digital systems
