III. Catalog Course Description
This course is taken in conjunction with DENH 151. It will be a continuation of clinical skills, enhancement of instrumentation, assessment procedures, treatment planning and patient education. Didactic and clinical instruction will present an emphasis on hard and soft deposit removal in preparation for clinical patients.
IV. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Demonstrate and utilize dental terminology within the course and clinical instruction.
- Demonstrate the patient process of care – assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation.
- Demonstrate the procedure for applying topical fluoride and varnishes. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of a variety of products and system uses.
- Demonstrate progress in development in skills required to perform effective hard deposit removal with proper instrumentation, insertion, and maintenance of instrument blades.
- Identify the etiology and classifications of caries.
- Manage Special needs, disabled patients and difficult and anxious patients.
- Introduction and Utilize Ultrasonic Instrumentation/ Practice techniques.
- Implement a Nutrition and Dental Health analysis.
