III. Catalog Course Description
This 2-credit course lays the foundation for lifelong wellness by introducing students to seven dimensions of wellness (physical, intellectual, emotional, spiritual, social, environmental, financial) and allowing students to practice behavior change in at least three dimensions through establishing, practicing and reflecting on individualized SMART goals related to the topical focus of the course. IV. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Connect lifelong wellness to the seven dimensions of wellness
- Create SMART goals to achieve those target behaviors
- Define lifelong wellness
- Define the seven dimensions of wellness
- Develop a behavior change strategy for implementing each SMART goal
- Evaluate SMART goals
- Explain behaviors that promoted or inhibited behavior change to achieve practiced SMART goals
- Explain beliefs that promoted or inhibited behavior change to achieve practiced SMART goals
- Explain the connection between those beliefs and behaviors and maintaining lifelong wellness
- Identify Define the purpose of lifelong wellness
- Identify a target behavior for all seven dimensions of wellness
- Identify the characteristics of a SMART goal
