BUA 4344 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
This course will integrate community service and academic learning. This course will provide the training and certification necessary to participate in the Volunteer Income Assistance (VITA) program. Through this certification process, students will learn to prepare basic income tax returns and efile these returns. The students will apply this knowledge by working at a VITA site of their selection preparing tax returns for low-income taxpayers in the local community. The course will require a considerable amount of out of class community volunteer hours. The course will also address socio-economic issues facing members of the low-income community. All majors are welcome and encouraged to enroll and make a difference in their community.
